How we rank them

High, Medium and Low, in plain words.

  • High: a holding or investment name, or a trade word like construction, trucking or food, at an address no other new company shares. These owners are likely to need bookkeeping, HST and year-end tax work.
  • Medium: everything else. Mostly numbered companies with no trade name yet. They stay in the feed.
  • Low: a suite shared by 2 or more new companies that week. Likely a law firm or formation service that may already advise them.

Holding, numbered and shared-suite signals come before industry tags. Industry tags are a rough guess from the company name.

For Oct 19 to 25, 2026 we tagged 764 companies: High 171, Medium 572, Low 21.

Tags come from company names. The open data has no industry codes and no director names. We do not invent those fields.

How an accountant uses it

  1. You get the weekly list. Names, incorporation dates, cities, postal prefixes, fit tags and the full registered address for newly filed federal corporations with a GTA registered office.
  2. You choose who to contact. New corporations need books, HST registration help and year end work. You decide timing and how you introduce yourself.
  3. You work from public record fields. The open file does not include phone numbers, emails or director names. Your own outreach stays under your own rules.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the data come from?

Corporations Canada publishes a daily open CSV of active federal CBCA business corporations. We reuse that public file under the Open Government Licence โ€“ Canada. Source: Corporations Canada. GTA means Toronto plus Peel, York, Durham and Halton, filtered by postal FSA.

What is included in the weekly email?

Corporate name, incorporation date, city, province, postal code, full registered address from the open data, and our High / Medium / Low accountant-fit tag for newly appearing GTA registered office rows.

What is not included?

No phone numbers. No email addresses for the companies. No director names. Those fields are not in the open CSV, and we do not add them.

How do you decide High, Medium and Low?

Holding, numbered and shared-suite signals come before industry tags. High means a holding or investment name, or a trade word, at an address no other new company shares. Medium is everything else, often numbered companies. Low is a suite shared by 2 or more new companies that week. Industry tags are a rough guess from the name. The open data has no industry codes.

How do subscribers use the list under Canada’s anti-spam law?

The weekly emails come from federal corporation records under the Open Government Licence โ€“ Canada, with no phone numbers, emails or director names. How subscribers contact companies is their own responsibility under Canada’s anti-spam law.

How often does it go out?

Once a week, covering the prior calendar week of incorporations from the Corporations Canada file.

How do I cancel or stop the emails?

Cancel the Stripe subscription from your receipt email when you want. To stop messages, reply “stop” or email hello@secondunitleads.ca with the subject New Company Alerts and ask to be removed. We will stop.
